Lead me to a rock that is
high above me,
for you have been a refuge for me,
a strong tower in the face of the enemy.
The oft-repeated plea of David is that God would continue to be his refuge –
- A rock, high above.
- A place of safety, easily defended; with a vantage point that sees the enemy approaching.
- A refuge.
- A place of safety for rest, provision; a place of comfort during battle.
- A strong tower.
- A place easily defended and impenetrable.
Lord, be these for me!
Be my Rock: high above the turmoil of this world.
My refuge: you are my resting place, all my provision.
My strong tower: Lord, you are the safest spot for my vulnerable soul.
I trust only in you, Lord. Today, lead me to that rock, be my refuge, my strong tower.
